Product Descriptions That Sell Instead of Sounding Generated

Model-written listings all read the same. Here is what to strip and the details that actually convert.

Everyone is running the same prompt

"Elevate your everyday routine with our premium, thoughtfully designed..." Shoppers comparing four tabs see this sentence four times and trust none of them. Sameness, not grammar, is the conversion problem.

Lead with the specific, not the adjective

"Premium materials" tells a buyer nothing. "1.2mm full-grain leather, stitched, not glued" answers the actual question. Every vague adjective you replace with a measurable fact removes a reason to hesitate.

Say who it is not for

Model drafts sell to everyone, which reads as selling to no one. "If you need this to survive a toddler, buy the coated version instead" builds more trust than a paragraph of praise, and it cuts your return rate.

Answer the returns questions in the copy

Read your last twenty support tickets. Sizing, care, compatibility, what is in the box. Every answer moved into the description is a return avoided and a purchase unblocked.

Structure for scanning, not for prose

Keep the voice consistent across the catalogue

Generating each listing independently produces a store that sounds like six different brands. Write one short voice guide — words you use, words you never use, how you handle sizing — and pass it with every draft. Consistency is what makes a catalogue feel like a company.
