50 texts: 20 human, 20 raw AI, 10 humanized. Each detector got the same files. We counted false positives on human text separately from misses on AI text, because that split matters more than a single accuracy number.
No detector was perfect. The expensive ones missed humanized text often; the free ones cried wolf on human writing constantly. The takeaway: a detector score is a hint, not proof.
If you're a writer, run two detectors and only worry if both agree. If you're a teacher, treat the score as a reason to read, not a verdict.
